UC Riverside, as part of its Water SENSE NSF-IGERT program, will be hosting its Turbulent Futures conference on May 11th and May 12th in Riverside.
The keynote speaker will be Newsha Ajami ’11, who is currently Director of Urban Water Policy at the Stanford Water in the West program, and a Senior Research Associate with the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment.
Ajami’s placement during her CCST Science & Technology Policy Fellowship was with the California State Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water. Prior to her year in Sacramento, Ajami received her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Irvine, a MS in Hydrology and Water Resources from the University of Arizona, and her bachelors in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic.
Those attending the conference should also take note of research presented by UC Riverside doctoral students Holly Mayton and Drew Story, who are receiving CCST support to explore how water data across various agencies, institutions, and repositories in California can best be managed and integrated. Their research is being conducted in response to a request by the California Department of Water Resources.
